Beyond Chic Tours the Homes of Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Reed Krakoff, and Other Fashion Designers.
In Beyond Chic: Great Fashion Designers at Home (The Vendome Press, $85), influential fashion icons and tastemakers open their private quarters to photographer Ivan Terestchenko. Far from the pressure of the catwalk and the atelier, personalities such as Azzedine Alaïa, Manolo Blahnik, Reed Krakoff, and Stefano Pilati are photographed amid the decor, artwork, and personal collections of their residences.
The book's 19 photo essays, presented in chronological order of when they were shot, highlight homes as varied in style as they are in location. From minimalist (Giorgio Armani’s Swiss châlet) to ornate (Yves Saint Laurent’s Parisian duplex), relaxed (Kevin Carrigan’s Long Island retreat) to exotic (Franca Sozzani’s Moroccan riad), each exquisitely decorated space reveals a great deal about its owner.
