Thierry Despont, who also designed the interiors for the new Getty Museum.
ABOUT THE HOME
LIVING ROOM
The living room is on a grand scale featuring a spacious sitting alcove for smaller groups and
a most handsome fireplace. The living room was decorated by Matthew Smyth of New York. The
walls are covered in silk with custom designed decorative work on the lower portion.
DINING ROOM
Double doors open to the grand formal dining room with French doors leading to view terraces.
Robert Couturier of New York and Pierre Finkelstein are famed designers who were involved in
creating the luxurious ambiance. All grand entertaining rooms feature Golden Gate and Bay
Views as does the enchanting library facing west with a private terrace and a powder room.
This room is a most inviting warm sitting room enhanced by faux-painted walls and floor to
ceiling french doors.
KITCHEN
A large kitchen with separate yet open family room area has an abundance of space for family
and guests. Adjoining laundry, pantry and half bath are part of the separate service quarters,
which are easily accessed by the service elevator for catering, deliveries, etc.
GALLERY
A splendid picture gallery leads to the master suite with separate dressing rooms and baths, a
guest room with north Bay and south park views and adjoining bath and exercise room. All
spaces are grand and feature glorious detail from sumptuous times, including the elegant
wrought iron staircase leading gracefully to the first level.
First Level
The first level can be accessed directly from the street through a most impressive pair of iron
doors and private entry. Tall 11'5" ceilings and doors set the tone of elegance. Here the
former grand ballroom is situated perfectly for the large home theater/entertaining room used
for informal gatherings. Separate guest suite adjoining. One more additional bedroom and bath
are located on this floor. Storage, laundry and maid's quarters provide additional space. An
electrically operated vertical door closes off the two levels for complete privacy and
versatility.
