Presidio Terrace was conceived and developed in 1898 by banker/ Swiss-native Antoine Borel along with real estate brokers A.S.  Baldwin and J.R. Howell.  By 1911, most of the parcels were sold and homes built  with a few remaining ones completed by 1920. San Francisco architects such as Julia Morgan, Charles Whittlesey, McDonald & Applegarth and Reid & Reid were among noted architects invited to design homes for prospective buyers.
